How to RANK ON GOOGLE

I am relatively new in the game of being a webmaster. I have found it is difficult to get to traffic to a website and just as difficult to get my site listed on DMOZ (A great source to be listed on if you want a good PR with Google). Traffic and Page Rank go hand-and-hand which is why the DMOZ listing is so important.
This is a directory that is made up of thousands of human editors entering URLS on a daily basis. The time and actually placement of a site is soley up to the editors discretion. As I have found out there are a few tips that one can use to get there new site listed on DMOZ.
First is to find the correct category of your website. The thing you need to do is to look at the bottom and see if there is an editor attached to the category. If there is not then your URL submission may never get listed.
If there is no editor then look for another category that is close to what you need until you find one with an editor attached. The point is to find one with a person assicaited with it so you stand a better chance of getting listed.
Once you do this and you submit your URL to the DMOZ site you still are not garaunteed placement. the actual process can take weeks, months or a year depending on when the decides to look at the site and then if he/she feels it is a good fit they will put it through.
Just a quick tidbit and hopefully this will help a few. I am still waiting!!!
